Anne was born and raised in Sydney, and had the good fortune of having a father who was a navigator for Qantas. This meant that growing up she had the opportunity to see many of the beautiful and awe inspiring places of the world. This has led to her appreciation of history, and fueled her love for landscapes, especially the natural environment.
As a child she could usually be found either drawing (mainly horses) or reading. Her few attempts at painting ended in disaster, which led her to believe that she couldn’t paint. Not enjoying structured “Art” classes at school either, her interest in art waned. It was only after she met her present husband Maurie and found herself with five children to raise that she began to think she needed to do something for herself. At the time “Folk Art” was all the rage, so Maurie bought her first set of paints. A few classes later, Anne discovered she had a talent for painting after all and was soon churning out commissions for family and friends.
With the children finally all grown up, Anne & Maurie moved to Sheffield, Tasmania in 2004, and Anne enrolled at TAFE in Devonport, completing her Diploma in Art, Craft and Design. With new found confidence and wishing to be better connected with her new community, Anne became involved in the local art scene and helped set up The Working Art Space, a community run initiative with infrastructure provided by the local council, providing a gallery space & offering workshops for local artists. Anne served as the Treasurer for nearly four years. Sheffield is internationally known as "The Town of Murals" and every year hosts a week long mural painting competition, attracting some of the best mural artists from around the world. In 2007, Anne joined the Mural Fest committee serving as Art Manager, and Treasurer and in 2009 as Chairperson.
In 2013, Anne decided to further her studies and enrolled to do her Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art & Visual Culture), online through Open Universities Australia, delivered through Curtin University in WA. She found the experience to be a huge but rewarding challenge, completing it in 2019.
Several career changes saw Anne and Maurie move from Sheffield to Hobart in 2009, then back to Sheffield. A rather dramatic career change in mid 2016 saw them moving to a remote location approx. 160kms from Alice Springs in the Harts Range vicinity. After 3 years they moved back to Tasmania, sold their home in Sheffield and moved to the beautiful Tamar Valley in 2020.
Anne finds most enjoyment in painting landscapes and has won several prizes in competitions and competed in Mural Fest in 2006.
Her work is held in both private and corporate collections in Tasmania, on the mainland and overseas.
